Mr. Stoney Hartsel Suder age 79, a resident of Belington, departed this life Sunday August 24, 2025, in the Mountain Memories Assisted Living and Retirement Center at Elkins. Death was following a period of declining health.
He was born September 16, 1945, at Upshur County, WV, a son of the late Hartsel Huling and Mary Elizabeth Fallen Suder. On October 8, 1966 at Dunbar, WV, he was united in marriage to the former Annette "Andy" Henry, who survives at their home in Belington.
He is survived by two sons; Matthew Suder and wife Pam of Apollo Beach, Fla and Michael Suder and wife Crystal of Belington, four siblings; Patsy Zimmerman of Akron, Ohio, Rocky Suder of Belington, Ronnie Suder and wife Diane of Belington and Vicki Donovan of Akron, Ohio, two aunts; Josephine Kittle and Ruby Fallen both of Belington and a brother-in-law; Lloyd Thompson of Akron, Ohio. Additional survivors include two grandchildren; Haleigh Noelle Nelson of California and Abby Nicole Suder and husband Shay of Grafton, three great-grandchildren; Kai Nelson, Salem Nelson and Lili Nelson, several nieces, nephews and a whole host of friends
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters; Rossalie Thompson and Patricia Carr.
Stoney attended the schools of Barbour County. He started his working career in Dunbar for his two uncles at the Dunbar Retread Tire Shop. He then was employed by Stockdale Mining Supply where he sold mining bits to coal companies. Then he took a job in the Boiler Makers Union. He then returned home to Barbour County, where he became employed for himself starting out as a pipeline welder former Barbour County Pipeline. He was an avid heavy equipment operator and welder, and could do almost anything that he set his mind to.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and he made numerous friends where ever he was. He left an undeniable mark in many peoples lives all over the world. He loved his family and friends very much and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends will be received from the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington on Saturday August 30, 2025 from 1PM – 4PM the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Pastor Johnny Paul Williams II officiating. Honoring Stoney's request, cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.talbottfuneralhome.com. The Talbott Funeral Home in Belington is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Stoney Hartsel Suder.
