Stout Logan Powell, 86, passed away Monday, November 24, 2025, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA.
Born on December 2, 1938, in Buena Vista, Georgia, he was the son of the late R.A. “Tom” and Mina Powell. Mr. Powell worked for many years for Sumter County as a heavy equipment operator, as well as working various jobs in farming. He enjoyed a life filled with the things he loved most, from traveling and farming to simply spending time outdoors. Some of his happiest memories were made on cruises with his wife, simply enjoying time together. At home, he took great pride in caring for his farm animals and could often be found outside piddling with any piece of equipment he came across.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Osborne; his daughter, Rhonda Davis and son-in-law Frank Davis; his brother, Donnie Powell; his sister, Joyce Henson; his grandchildren, Shannon Powell and Travis Davis; and several great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Mr. Powell is preceded in death by his son, Danny Powell; his brothers Clements Powell and Rick Powell; and his sister, Brenda Smith.
The family will receive friends for a visitation in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee Street, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, beginning at 1:00 PM, with a funeral service following at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
