Strickland L Jones

Strickie L Jones passed away on January 9th 2023 surrounded by her loving family at Baptist Desoto hospital in Southaven Mississippi. She was 83 years old. Born the daughter of Louis O. Jones and Bettie Bert Jones in Memphis, Tennessee. A graduate of Southside High School Class of 1957, she received a music scholarship to Memphis State University where she received a Batchelor or Arts degree. Strickie was employed by the IRS as a tax examining technician for 20 years before retirement. She loved to sew and was an excellent seamstress. She was always active working in her yard or sanding and refinishing furniture. She volunteered her time at Southaven Care Center and the Southaven Police Department. The three things Strickie loved most was her church, her family and her dogs. She was a faithful member of Graceview Presbyterian Church and loved her church family. Strickie never met a dog she didn't like. She was partial to her Yorkshire Terriers but would take in any dog that needed a loving home.
She was preceeded in death by her parents Louis O. Jones, Bettie Bert Jones and her sister Virginia " Jenny" Palmer. She is survived by her daughters Heather Dilliard (Jerry) and Rivers Newborn (Randy). Her sisters Martha "Dunie" Goodman and Beverly " Tag" Edgerton, and her grandchildren Adam Dilliard, David Wilkinson and Callie Wilkinson and two great grandchildren.
