Strother Williams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harris Funeral Home, Inc. on Dec. 22, 2025.
Strother "Stroh" Wayne Williams, 83, of Madisonville, KY, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville.

He was born on August 7, 1942, in Madisonville, KY, to the late Mildred Alice Hatler Williams (birthplace, Hopkins County, KY) and Clifford "Bigboy" Ray Williams, Sr (birthplace, Chesapeake, WV). He was formerly employed as a UPS driver. He enjoyed bow shooting, fishing, and golfing. Strother had many hobbies and interests. For several years, he would get some guys together and bowl on a league at Melody Lanes then enjoy some challenging bumper pool with Eddie Ballard. Strother loved bass fishing at Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley and fishing trips to Newnan Lake in Gainesville, Florida and deer hunting at Land Between the Lakes. Some of his trophies were hung in sporting good stores in Madisonville, KY, and he loved going with his friends to elk hunt in Colorado.

Opening an archery business in his garage was one of many things he enjoyed along with competing in archery tournaments and bringing home many trophies and awards throughout the years. Spending time with our combined children was always fun for everyone. From camping trips to theme parks, to going swimming and baseball games in St. Louis, his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Strother was known for making the best snow cream in the winter. Strother was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Anna "Tootsie" Kwiatkowski, Clara Mae Lindstrom, Juanita Deaton Cates, Hilda Bruce Gammon, Elizabeth Reynolds Nevitt, James Morton Williams, Roy Douglas Williams, Clifford Ray "Sonny" Williams, Jr., Williams Edward Williams, and Thurman "Lee" Williams.

He is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Faye Marks Williams of Madisonville; his children, Rebecca (Lawrence) Rhodes of Bremen, KY, Dawn Renee (Jason) Hunt of Madisonville, Bradley (Amelia) Williams of Madisonville; stepson, Jody Miller of Bumpus Mills, TN; grandchildren, Erik (Jennifer) Rhodes, Lauren Stewart, Steven (Sara) Wiggins, and Bradley (Rachel) Williams; his step-grandson, Ethan Miller of Bumpus Mills, TN; and his great-grandchildren, Jamie, Jaxson, Lucas, Carsen, Ozzie, and Rhett.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Fleming officiating. Burial to follow at East Lawn Cemetery in Hanson, KY.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday at the funeral home.

The pallbearers are Brad, Jody, Steven, Erik, Ethan, and Jaxson.
