Stuart Phillips Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dooley Colonial Home - Westfield on Aug. 8, 2024.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Stuart Martin Phillips, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, who left us on August 6th 2024 at the age of 89, just shy of his 90th birthday.
Stuart lived a life rich with love, laughter, and baseball. Having worked as a lithographer for many years, Stuart was a life-long NYC resident until a couple of years ago when he and his wife Pat moved to Westfield, NJ.
Stuart often told stories of playing stickball on the streets of Greenwich Village and Astoria, Queens with humorous tales of "stealing" pink Spaldings from his father's candy store after having an old fashioned egg cream.
A devoted husband to his beloved wife Patricia, Stuart was the heart of his family. Having served in the U.S. Army on both active and reserve duty, he was proud of his military duty. He is survived by his children Richard, Scott and Elizabeth, who will forever treasure his memory and fun-loving personality. His grandchildren Emily, Jason, Samuel, Zachary, Cooper who were the light of his life, will miss his endearing and joyful spirit, along with his adoring daughter-in-laws Coleen and Maryann, and son-in-law Brad who were equally part of the family.
A lifelong fan of Frank Sinatra, Stuart found great pleasure in Frank's music, which was often played in the background. His love of travel included cruising and spending winters in Florida with friends and were highlights of his life. His love for the New York Yankees was a defining part of his character, and his enthusiasm for the team was evident by his watching every game and reading about the Yankees in the NY Post. Phillips Family vacations often included trips to watch minor league baseball teams play to watch future superstars.
Stuart's zest for life and his deep affection for his family will be remembered with great fondness. He touched the lives of everyone who knew him with his humor, playfulness and unwavering devotion. He will be profoundly missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of sharing in his life. May he rest in peace and reunite in heaven with his life-long friends Mike, Eddie, & Charlie.
