Stuart Eugene Shelstad, age 64, of Lino Lakes, Minnesota passed away on January 6th, 2026, at M Health Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis surrounded by family. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 12th at Christ the King Lutheran Church in White Bear Lake, MN at 11:00am with a visitation prior to the service at 10:00am. He will be buried at St. James Lutheran Church cemetery in Parkers Prairie, MN on Tuesday, January 13th at 12:00pm.

Stuart was born on December 19th, 1961, in Graceville, MN to Verlyn and Beatrice (Behrens) Shelstad. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Jacqualine (Jackie) who he married on April 17th, 1993, and was a loving father to his children: Samantha, Brooke, Benjamin, and Sydney.

Stuart retired from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) in 2018, where he had worked as a Chief in the Farm Service Agency for over 30 years. Among many things, he loved finance, sports, traveling, reading, telling jokes, eating ice cream, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed taking golf trips with his friends, going on bus trips with his wife, and deer hunting with his son.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years and his children; his siblings, Lori (Jon) Sporer and nephews, Mikel & Ryan; Barbara (Mike) Shelstad and nephew, Richard; Penny Shelstad, nephew Randy (Leah), and niece, Rosalyn, as well as many friends and other extended family members who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Arlyn Shelstad.
