Sue passed Monday morning in Lake Stockton Health CareServices will be Friday Feb 16th at 2:00 PM in Stockton Christian Churchwith Burial in Stockton CemeteryVisitation Friday 12:30 Pm in the ChurchBarbara "Sue" (Chism) Clayton passed away February 12, 2024, at the age of 84, at Lake Stockton Healthcare Facility, Stockton, MO.Sue, daughter of the late Harlen Lee Chism and Eunice Eugene (Gray) Chism, was born on December 11, 1939, in Cedar County, near the Masters area. Sues elementary years were spent at Bethel School and nished the rest of her schooling at Dadeville, MO, graduating in the class of 1957.After graduation, Sue worked at the telephone oce in Stockton, MO. While working one day, a handsome Ralph Clayton stopped by and asked her for a date. She turned him down, but with encouragement from her boss, she went to the Post Oce, where Ralph worked, to buy three, three cent stamps, and he asked her out again, and so, the love story began. Sue and Ralph married March 9, 1958.Soon after their marriage, Ralph was drafted into the US Army and was stationed in Baumholder, Germany. Sue joined him there and they traveled to several countries in Europe when time allotted.Upon their return from Germany, in 1960, Sue and Ralph rented a small farm east of Stockton and established a small dairy farm. In 1963, they purchased their rst farm west of Stockton. Together with dedication and perseverance they built a home and farmed the land with crops, hogs and cattle.Sue, beloved mother to three (3) children, Tony, Todd, and Terri, and proud grandmother and great-grandmother.She lived a full life as a wonderful mother, homemaker. Sue loved to cook, kept an immaculate house and was highly skilled at running a farm and gardening. She led by example. There was never a job too large or too small that she would not tackle. Sue was a strong and ercely determined woman.Most of all, Sue loved her family and instilled in her childrens strong values that have served them well. She loved to reminisce about days gone by with her cousins and loved them all dearly. Sue maintained a lifelong friendship with childhood friend Rosie Clemmons. She loved animals, especially cats.Sue, a baptized believer in our Lord Jesus Christ and member of Stockton Christian Church.Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Harlen and Eunice, brother Roger Dale Chism, grandson Colt Clayton and nephew Mike Asbell.Sue is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ralph of Stockton; son Tony (Evann) of Jeerson City, MO, son Todd Clayton of Stockton; daughter Terri (Clayton) Piatchek (Tim) of Springeld, MO; seven grandchildren, Callie Bishop (Craig), Carrie Sherer (Blake), Austin Clayton, Isaac and Charity Clayton, Blaise and Savannah Piatchek; three great- grandchildren, Adler and Ainsley Bishop and Elizabeth Sherer; sisters Joyce Helms, Olathe, KS, Nancy King (Bob) Pea Ridge AR; Judy Swager, Rogers AK, former daughter in law Danna Whitlock Clayton and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.Funeral services will be held at the Stockton Christian Church, 703 West Street, Stockton, Missouri on Friday, February 16, 2024, with a visitation at 12:30 PM and a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 PM. Funeral Services are under the direction of Bland-Brumback Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Stockton Christian Church Youth in memory of Barbara Sue Clayton."If, Home is where Mom is, our home is in Heaven."
