Sue Haycraft Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 24, 2025.
Sue Keller Haycraft, formerly of Owensboro, passed away on August 21, 2025, at an age much older than she expected to leave this earth (93 years old). She leaves behind the children she prized above all things - Sara (Sally) Haycraft Anderson and Don Keller Haycraft, plus her valued son-in-law Joe Anderson and daughter-in-law Madaline Herlong. Those who will miss her the most are her beloved sister and brother-in-law Sally Anderson and Richard Anderson. She truly could not believe that her husband of nearly 70 years, Joe Haycraft, pre-deceased her!

Not to be left off a list of her most treasured humans are her grandchildren James, Daniel, Jesse, and Travis Haycraft, who will miss her dry wit and warm hugs, and her great-grandchildren Max and Miles Haycraft. In addition to these family members, she leaves her brother-in-law David Haycraft, her nephews Richard, John, and Stuart Anderson, Scott Haycraft, David Ray Robinson, and nieces Laura Robinson and Cathy Haycraft Bridges.

Sue was known for her marksmanship, her love of books and public libraries, her keen interest in current events as well as historical preservation, UK and Kentucky Wesleyan basketball, and her love for all animals, particularly cats (Goldie, are you reading this?)

She grew up in Indiana and Kentucky, graduating from Owensboro High School in 1950. She then followed her pilot husband around the world and the United States. She was a mother, homemaker, substitute teacher, friend, and a super sister.

Not to go unmentioned in her obituary, all of us give a shout out to her mother and father, Mary Bundy Keller and John James Keller, whom she loved dearly. All of us have incredibly warm memories of these characters.

In lieu of flowers, a remembrance in favor of Community Hospice & Palliative Care in Fernandina Beach, Florida, will do some good in the world. Sue would appreciate that. The link to give online in memory of her name is: thefoundationcares.org/give
