Sue Koyle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stewart Family Funeral Home - Tyler on Jan. 14, 2026.
Sue Ann Koyle passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, in Tyler, Texas, at the age of 87. Originally from Boyne City, Michigan, Sue's kindness and dedication touched many lives throughout her journey. Sue was born on August 23, 1938, in Boyne City, Michigan, to Thelma Campbell Erber and Gerhart Erber. She spent her early years in Boyne City, a place that always remained close to her heart.

Sue was united in marriage to her beloved husband, John Franklin "Jack" Koyle, and together they shared 68 years of marriage marked by deep love, devotion, and a shared commitment to serving others. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and extended family matriarch who found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved.

Sue is survived by her husband, John Franklin Koyle; her children, Pamela Gilliland of Ava, Missouri, and her husband James Gilliland; Gregg Koyle of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Patrick Koyle of Frisco, Texas, and his wife Suzie Koyle; her granddaughter, Abigail Koyle; and Suzie's children, Alyssa Staner, Matthew Staner, and Tyler Staner, all of whom she loved as family.

Sue lived a life defined by service. She and Jack began volunteering in March of 2003 and faithfully served for 23 years, retiring just one week prior to her passing. During that time, Sue donated more than 21,000 hours of service. Together, they supported hospital operations in a variety of roles across departments, always offering steady help, kindness, and encouragement wherever they were needed. Sue also lovingly prepared newborn materials for families throughout her years of service. They volunteered three days a week, and the joy and friendship they brought to the hospital community were immeasurable.

In addition to their hospital service, Sue and Jack volunteered weekly for over 20 years in the church office at First Presbyterian Church of Tyler, Texas, reflecting a life grounded in faith and generosity.

Sue will be remembered for her gentle spirit, strong work ethic, and the compassion she showed to everyone she met. Her legacy of love and service lives on through her family and all those whose lives she touched.

A memorial service celebrating Sue's life will be held on January 31, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. CST at First Presbyterian Church of Tyler, with a reception to follow her Celebration of Life.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Tyler, Texas.
