Sue (Karnes) Quinlan 1936-2025
Sue (Karnes) Quinlan, 89, of South Burlington, died on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, peacefully in her sleep at Gazebo Senior Living surrounded by family. Sue was born on October 18, 1936, to Hugh and Unabelle (Longe) Karnes in Burlington, Vermont. Growing up, Sue sang with the Harmonettes in the early 1950's while attending Cathedral High School in Burlington. Her love for singing continued throughout her life as she sang around her family and up until her final days. Sue had a beautiful soul and helped others through her work at CVOEO and Pine Ridge School.
Sue married Francis (Frank) Quinlan on April 18, 1965, and they were happily married for 46 years before Frank's passing in December of 2011.
Sue was predeceased by her husband Frank, her son Jay, Diane and her husband Billy, and Pudgy. She is survived by her son John and two children Amber and Cameron; her daughter Kathy and her son Chad; Marcy and her children Joey, Christina, and Jordan; grandson Alex; granddaughter Casey; Rick and his wife Lori; Stevie and his life Vickie; and Ron and his predeceased wife Gretchen.
Sue was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Sue was a thoughtful and kind person who will never be forgotten and will always be love.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 1 P.M. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Williston. Immediately following interment will be in East Cemetery in Williston.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
