Sujatha Sarma Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Clayton Funeral Home and Crematory - Pearland on Dec. 3, 2025.
Sujatha Sarma, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother to three children, and grandmother to six grandchildren, passed away on December 2nd, leaving a void in her family that will never be filled.

She was born in Kakinada, India, in 1946 to J.V. Krishna Sarma and Leelavathi Sarma. As the eldest daughter, she quickly took on responsibilities in helping care for her four younger siblings, which made her an incredibly kind and compassionate person.

She received her Bachelor of Arts from Women's College in Hyderabad and her Master's in English Literature from Osmania University before entering the workforce as a teacher and ultimately working in the field of mortgages and loans.

She lived in two worlds, one from her travels to many unique places experiencing different cultures and one in her books, populated by characters in novels written by her favorite authors like James Patterson and Robin Cook.

Sujatha had a larger-than-life presence and a magnanimous spirit. She was a true friend in times of need. She loved her family and friends dearly. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and they felt that every day through the love and support she provided.

Sujatha is survived in death by her husband N.V.R. Sarma, her sisters Aravinda Rao and Anuradha Rao, her children Prashanti Avasarala, Praveena Sarma, and Kaushik Sarma, her two sons-in-law and daughter-in-law, and her six grandchildren, who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.

Funeral services will be held at Clayton Funeral Home and Crematory in Pearland, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation may be made in her name.
