Suk Parello Obituary

Suk Cha Parello

Suk Cha Parello, age 83, of Lake Forest, peacefully passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at her home with her family. She was born in South Korea on May 8, 1941, to Ki Yong Yi and Pan Im Shon. Suk Cha was the sixth child of eight brother and sisters, Duk Sul Yi, Chong Go Yi, Jum Yi, Soe Yi, Chong Soo Yi, Chong Mo YI, and Seung Yi.

Suk Cha met the love of her life, James Parello, a dashing young Army soldier protecting Korea. In 1962 she immigrated from Korea to the United States with her new husband, excited about starting her own family. Her devotion towards her family was second to none, always wanted them near, even assisted her brother, sister, and nephew with their immigration.

It was a struggle growing up in Korea at that time with seven siblings, Suk Cha prevailed and learned a strong work ethic to keep her family close. She loved being a seamstress for a tailor and stayed constantly busy between work and raising three sons. Other enjoyment in life were traveling to new places with her family and dancing to favorites like the Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. Above all, Suk Cha expressed her love through cooking and baking for family and friends, a full stomach makes for a happy heart.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Anthony "Tony" (Sue) Parello, Vincent "Vince" (Kristi) Parello; five grandchildren, Jordyn, Jimmy, Anthony, Vincent, Alexa; one great-grandchild, August James Speaks; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Suk Cha will be greeted in Heaven by her son, Benn Parello who died in 1998, her first husband, James Parello in 2008, and her second husband, William Redfield in 2023.

A celebration of Suk Cha's life will be Friday, August 16, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until the service at 3:45 p.m. at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave., (Rt. 176, one block west of Milwaukee Ave.) in Libertyville. Interment will be private in Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Suk Cha's name to the American Legion McKinlock Post 264, 801 N. McKinley Rd., Lake Forest, IL 60045.
