Sunny González Obituary
Sunny was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to the late Carmelo Rafael González and Antonia De Jesús and carried her love for her roots with her throughout her life. In recent years, she retired to Chicago, Illinois, where she found great joy in spending time surrounded by family, especially in the company of her daughter, sisters, and niece. These moments of togetherness brought her comfort, laughter, and deep fulfillment.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Sunny (Emre Kocagil) Díaz; her brothers, Rafael (Rhonda) González and Javier (Lilliana Perez) González; and her sisters, Lillian González, Nitza (Ricardo) González, and Sandra (Toby) Murray, as well as her nieces and nephews, who will forever cherish her memory and the love she so freely gave.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 3:00–8:00 p.m. at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N. Cicero Avenue, Chicago, IL. Funeral Thursday, January 22, 2026, departing at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home in procession to Queen of All Saints Basilica, 6280 N. Sauganash Ave., Chicago, IL, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Juan Vargas at 10:00 a.m. Interment private.
