Pastor Sunny Buoy Stuart age 88 of Norman, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025.

He was born December 15, 1937 in Norman, Oklahoma to Elmer and Mary (Lee) Stuart. He grew up in Little Axe and Norman, Oklahoma and graduated from Norman High School. He earned his Doctorate in Divinity after attending Oklahoma Baptist University and Universal Bible Institute.

Sunny married Sharon Scott on March 04, 1978 in Norman, Oklahoma.

Sunny served as a pastor of several churches in Oklahoma including; Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Vamoosa Baptist Church, Sinclair Baptist Church, Morris Memorial Baptist Church, Classen Blvd Baptist Church, and for over 30 years at First Baptist Little Axe. He also served on the OEC Foundation Board, and has been a chaplain at Valley View Hospital in Ada, and Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, as well as a chaplain in the National Guard. He was an avid fisherman and deer hunter. He was a fanatic for OU football and attended all home games for over 25 years.

He is preceded in death by; his parents, Elmer and Mary Stuart; his wife, Sharon Stuart; his daughter, Penny Stuart; his brothers, David, James, and Wesley Stuart; and his sister, Joan Tally.

Those left to cherish his memory are; daughter, Joy Nix of Newalla; son, Shane Stuart and wife Sherri of Noble; son, Scott Stuart and wife Jill of Norman; grandchildren, Evan Kent, Seth Stuart, Sarah Wheeler, Shaye Stuart, and Hailey Noel; great-grandchildren, Ben, Jasper, Ellie, and Miles; and numerous loving friends and church family.

Visitation will be from 12-8 PM Tuesday December 30, 2025 with the family gathering from 6-8 PM at Cooper Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at First Baptist Little Axe with Pastor Cody Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
