Susan Marie Albert

In the early morning hours on Sunday, September 4, 2022 Susan Marie Albert, age 71,
passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Colchester, Vermont. Susan was born
in Darby, Pennsylvania and grew up in Media, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Notre
Dame High School, earned her bachelor's degree from Cheyney University, and her
master's degree from West Chester University.
Susan's passion was criminal justice, which was reflected throughout her career as a
paralegal, Vermont State Police Officer, Shelburne Police Officer, Hinesburg Police
Officer, Probation & Parole Officer, and the Investigations' Program Chief with the
Vermont Department of Labor.
During her life, Susan was a driven and passionate individual that strove for perfection
wherever she was working whether it was a college thesis, performing her job as a police
officer, or picking out Christmas gifts for her grandchildren.
When it came to her family, Susan was the rock, the protector, and arbiter of all the
important decisions. She was a private woman, frugal, and always had a safety mindset,
all qualities she instilled in her family. She was a hero to many as a police officer, willing
to serve and sacrifice for others. As a mom and grandmother she loved giving to her
family. She was a faithful and devoted wife who loved spending time with her husband
by taking rides around Vermont, scratching off lottery tickets, and sitting on the front and
back decks talking and listening to the fountains by their pool.
Susan is survived by her husband, Rikki of forty years, her son, Rikki, her daughter-in-
law, Anna, and her four grandchildren: Ella (11), Ezra (8) Edith (4), and Etta (2) Susan is
also survived by her sisters Maria Johnston-Twining and Jeanette Campbell, as well as
her brother, Vincent Johnston.
Services will be held at the LaVigne Funeral Home located at 132 Main Street, Winooski,
Vermont on Saturday, the 10th of September 2022 from 10am-noon. The service will be
followed by a reception at 1pm hosted at Rikki Albert's home in Colchester, Vermont. Please
