Susan Audi, a devoted mother, grandmother, and woman of steadfast Christian faith, passed away peacefully at the age of 87. Her life was marked by kindness, humility, and a deep love for her family-qualities she carried with her from her earliest days to her final moments.
Susan was the daughter of Rachael and Frederick Hooper, born in
Troy, New Hampshire, and one of three children, alongside her sister, Ginny, and brother, Robert. She later made her home in Springfield, Massachusetts, where she and her late husband, Joseph Goshea, raised their three children, Diane, Stephen, and Jonathan. She is also survived by five grandchildren-Christine and Timothy Jette, Raymel Quinones, Chantal, and Jeremiah Goshea-as well as four great-grandchildren, Katrina, Jeffery Jr., Alex, and Jason, and one great-great-grandchild, Rose. She also had one other loving grandson that passed, Tyler Goshea. Susan's home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the steady presence of a mother whose love never wavered, even in the hardest of times.
Her Christian faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She attended the Wesleyan Church whenever she could, finding comfort in its fellowship and strength in the message of God's grace. Her gentle spirit and quiet devotion reflected the values she held close.
Susan found joy in simple pleasures, and one of her greatest was bowling. Whether she was celebrating a strike or sharing a laugh with friends, the bowling alley was a place where she felt connected and alive. Her love for the game brought her happiness for many years.
In 2004, Susan moved to Florida to be near her son Stephen, embracing a new chapter with her characteristic resilience and grace. She later returned to Massachusetts, settling in East Longmeadow, where she lived out her remaining years surrounded by familiar places and the love of her family and friends.
At home, over the years she shared her days with her beloved cats, Precious, Mischief and Patches, whose companionship brought her comfort and joy. They were more than a pet-they was loyal friends and a source of daily warmth.
Throughout her life, Susan carried a quiet belief that she never wanted to burden anyone. She gave freely, asked for little, and lived with a humility that touched everyone who knew her. Her selflessness, her resilience, and her tender heart leave a legacy that will continue to guide her family for generations.
To honor her faith, her family reflects on the full words of Psalm 23, a passage she held close:
Psalm 23 (King James Version)
1. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on April 1st, 2026, from 2:00PM-6:00PM. A prayer service will conclude the Celebration of Life at 6:00PM. This will all take place in the Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow.
She will be remembered for her warmth, her faith, her laughter, and the steady love she offered without hesitation.
