MaryEllen Audi Obituary

MaryEllen Audi (Hudanick) passed away and went to see the Lord early on Sunday morning, Oct. 12, 2025. She was the last surviving sibling of the double-digit Hudanick "Hergy" clan from Watkins Street in Swoyersville. MaryEllen will be remembered by all those who know her by her infectious smile and sweet personality.

MaryEllen was born in March of 1939 and graduated from Swoyersville High School in 1957. She had a lot of good memories of the early days working at JS Raub but struck gold not long after that when she met her husband, George "Junie" Audi, a few years after his discharge from serving in the Navy during the Korean War. They had three children, Pamela Dommes, George Audi and Tammy Audi. They started their life together in Kingston and after five years moved to Jay Street in Swoyersville, where they built memories there with neighbors, friends and family for the better part of 50 years.

MaryEllen raised her three children, loved to cook and bake, and she was a worker. She took great joy in transforming her home by painting and redecorating with new rugs and furniture to make her home cozy for her family and friends. She always worked extra to help provide for her family and loved making homeowners proud of their houses that she cleaned — and yes, you always took your shoes off in her house. MaryEllen loved playing bingo with her sisters, playing poker at holiday gatherings with the Hergy clan, and one of her happy spots was sitting in front of a slot machine at the casino with a hazelnut coffee from Dunkin' Donuts in her hand.

Her church, her Lord and her Bible were very important to her, and we know she's in an extremely good place right now.

MaryEllen leaves behind five grandchildren, Gabriella Audi, Dylan Audi, Jake Miscavage, Maximillian Dommes and Nick Miscavage. After she lost her husband of 52 years, she spent a few years at home but shared her smile with the residents and staff at Serenity Care in Wyoming, Pa., and most recently at Third Avenue Health and Rehab in Kingston, Pa., where she was admired by everyone.

At her specific request, there will be no interment or funeral services. If you feel the desire to give, Candy's Place in Forty Fort would be welcoming of that gift. Candy's Place is a free wellness center helping cancer patients and their caregivers with counseling, massages reflexology, tai chi, etc. Candy's Place was extremely valuable and admired by MaryEllen's beloved daughter, Pam, who lost her battle with cancer last year.

MaryEllen's wishes were carried out by Mamary-Durkin Funeral and Cremation Services, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre.

My dear friend, it comforts my heart to know you are safe in the arms of Jesus along with your pastor, Larry Miller. What a day of rejoicing when Jesus gathers his children to ever be with Him. I will see you my dear friend

I am very sorry to see that a very good friend has been called home. I know her as the family lived near by. I knew her from SHS and working with her at JS Raub, for many years. Now she back home with her sister Elaine, who also worked in Wilkes Barre and we all rode the bus together. Over the last few years, we reconnected & wrote notes. The last one was at her last residence in Kingston. God Bless her in her new home. Luci Bekampis
