Susan Binnicker, age, 74, of Independence, MO, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022.
Susan Renee Binnicker was born on July 24, 1948 to Gene and Rose Ellen Hodson. She grew up in Independence, Missouri and had one older brother, Larry E Hodson. At the age of 15, she met her husband, Larry Binnicker, at a church retreat (at Camp Doniphan) and they were married 4 years later. For the rest of her life, she loved Larry with everything she had.
When Susan was 24, she and Larry had their first son, Paul, and their second son, Matt, was born 5 years later. Susan loved raising her sons and was always there for family. She was an amazing cook and baker, and her family will miss her freshly baked French bread, and her assortment of amazing treats at Christmas time. She also loved to decorate, and would spend hours making her home festive during every season. Susan had a passion for travel, and along with family and friends, was able to visit Hawaii, Europe, Central America and many U.S. National Parks.
She was an incredible partner to Larry, and the two of them dedicated their lives to helping others. She spent countless hours at the church or hospital with Larry, preparing meals for various events, hosting parties, and caring for those in need. They were an amazing team and taught their family the lessons of selflessness, empathy and caring. Susan and Larry left behind a beautiful legacy, and are survived by their sons, their daughters-in-law (Andrea Dorland Binnicker and Krista Borkowski Binnicker), and 5 grandchildren (Justin Binnicker, Emily Binnicker, Ethan Binnicker, Hayden Binnicker, and Jaxson Binnicker).
Susan endured years of pain - she had suffered with severe rheumatoid arthritis for 45 years - but pushed her physical illness aside as best she could to focus her time and energy on her family and the good of others. She was always thinking about others instead of herself.
The family is taking some time to grieve and rest, and future service details will be shared when available. Susan loved Lake Doniphan camp ground and Rocky Mountain National Park, so in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Lake Doniphan or the National Park Service.
