Susan Boesche Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home & Crematory - Statesboro on Mar. 30, 2026.
Susan Margaret "Suze" Boesche was called home to the Lord on March, 26th, 2026.

To know Suze was to love her. She was magic captured for a moment in human form. She was delighted by everything living and every moment was meaningful to her. She lived her life in service to the people she loved, and she loved so many. She was a devoted wife and mother, an Artist, a Sunday school teacher, a florist, a missionary, a scout leader, a gardener, and above all else, a child of God. Everything she gave to her family and loved ones was for the glory of God. Everything she created was in celebration of his Creation. Every bit of gratitude she felt for the life she had was given to Him.

Suze began her life on January, 15th, 1954 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Edith Mae Hixon. She was adopted by Evelyn Marie Zirzow (Heine) and Erdmann Albert "Bud" Zirzow, who raised her as their own along with their son and her big brother, Douglas Albert Zirzow. She was passionate about music, especially singing and piano in her early life, which she carried with her to her final days. She was also a swimmer and swam on a local swim team, although she was always insistent on her brother Doug getting the credit for being the better swimmer.

She met her Husband Walter "Morgan" Jarrett Boesche when she was in College at Indiana University. She always said the moment she shook his hand, she felt a whisper that she was meeting her husband. They began to build a life together that they felt was too big for Indiana, so they took it on the road and lived a life full of adventure and travelled everywhere their car (and feet) could take them before they eventually settled in Dahlonega, Georgia where she was a florist and a nursing home aid. They were finally married on April, 16th, 1976 and started their family in a little house on a mountain top in the National Forest. She would go on to have 6 children, (Joshua, Rainbow, Micah, Elijah, Bethany, and Hosanna) and they were her greatest work of art, her pride and joy. She was well known for how endlessly big her heart was, bringing people in need into her home, helping people in the streets, and paying extra attention to any and every child she cared for. She raised her family in church where she was a Sunday school teacher and Bible Study teacher, amongst so many other things. She left her mark with lush gardens everywhere she went, every home she lived in as well as her home church (Point South First Baptist Church) in Riverdale, Georgia was left with a vibrant sign that was there. She worked tirelessly to bring life and color to everything she touched. She truly modelled God's grace and brought so many people to Him with her kindness and loving spirit.

Suze and her children followed her husband to Savannah in August of 2001 and made a home for them there. She became a Revolutionary War reenactor at the local Historic sites and found a new passion in weaving and teaching day in the life living history. She took on the challenge of creating art with textiles in every form she could dream up. She would eventually start an online business, Suze's sashes and stashes, where she would leave a lasting impression with her creations across the world.

Suze and Morgan bought their final home in Brooklet, Georgia, where she would finish raising her children and grandchildren and became a safe place for her family to always return to her. She would spend every moment she could out by her pond, admiring the view and finding peace and fellowship with God in the quiet raw nature of her wild home and dreaming up how to capture it all in a painting.

In summer of 2023, Suze finally discovered and reconnected with her biological Siblings that she had searched for all her life. She learned that she had 4 siblings (Alfred Hill, Charles Hill, Timm Hill, and Tina Pruitt) who welcomed her with open arms. Suddenly after a lifetime of feeling like something was missing, she was able to spend her final years knowing exactly who she looked like, and where her laugh and her beautiful Hazel eyes came from. This brought her so much joy and a sense of belonging that she never quite had anywhere else.

After her husband of 47 years passed in 2023, she found comfort in painting again. She lived a quiet, private life that she only interrupted to spend with her children and many, many grandchildren. She loved to sit amongst the chaos in the village she created.

Suze is preceded in death by her parents, Erdmann "Bud" Zirzow and Evelyn Marie Zirzow, her biological mother Edith Mae Hill, and her beloved Husband and greatest love, Walter Jarrett "Morgan" Boesche.

She is survived by her siblings (Douglas Zirzow (Pam), Alfred Hill, Charles Hill, Timm Hill, and Tina Pruitt. Her children, Andrea Thornton (Aretha), Joshua Boesche (Christina), Rainbow Barber (Corey), Micah Boesche (Lacy), Elijah Boesche (Kimberly), Bethany Boesche (Dylan), and Hosanna Arbo (Samuel), as well as her Grandchildren Zacharie, Madeline, Genavieve, Amelia, Xander, Isaac, Makayla, Daniel, Rexy, Braydon, Gabriel, Nolan, Luna, Avery, Lola, Liam, and Zoe, and her great grandson Lucien.

Her memory will be honored with a private memorial amongst her children.
