Susan M. Briese (nee Bruecks)

Age 68, of Crest Hill, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on February 16, 2026, just days after celebrating her birthday on February 8. Susan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Briese; her father, Donald Bruecks; and her sister, Carol Antole. She is survived by her loving mother, Marie Bruecks; her siblings, Thomas Bruecks (Dee) and Kathy Shepherd (Darrell); and her brother-in-law, James Antole. Susan was a cherished aunt to Kim Sartori (David), Kerry Fulton (Tom), Jason Bruecks (Sandy), Joseph Antole, Mathew Bruecks (Sarah), and Christina Hupke (Steve). She was also a proud and loving great-aunt to many great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart. Family meant everything to Susan. She was the heart that kept everyone connected, always making sure no one felt forgotten. She loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children and took great pride in being a constant source of support, encouragement, and love in their lives. Susan was known for her generous, thoughtful, and caring spirit. She always put others first and quietly looked out for everyone around her. She found joy in the simple beauty of life - tending to her garden, nurturing her flowers, spending time in nature, and feeding the birds. Her cherished dog, Maggie, was a constant and loving companion. Susan's warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and cherished friends will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 28th at 11 AM at Carlson Holmquist Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Rd. In lieu of flowers memorials to your animal shelter or veterans program will be appreciated. Visitation will be from 9 AM until time of services at 11 AM. Interment St. Mary Nativity Cemetery.
