Susan Couch, a beacon of warmth and cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on November 12, 2025, in Evanston, Illinois. She was born to her parents the late Stephanie and Henry Korytowski in Chicago.
Susan's life was marked by her devotion to her family, her faith, and her career. She was a proud graduate of Alvernia High School and furthered her education at DePaul University. For over two decades, Susan was a respected property manager in Chicago.
In her personal life, Susan's faith as a Christian was a cornerstone that guided her through life's challenges and triumphs. She was a proud member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Chicago.
Susan's zest for life was best expressed through her love for her family and friends. She was a beloved wife to the late Dennis Couch, nurturing mother to her daughters, the late Brigitt Couch and Jennifer Gemmell, who is married to Tom Gemmell, and devoted grandmother to her grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas, Camryn, Katie, and John, who brought her immeasurable pride and joy.
Her siblings, Tom (Kim), Donald (Sharon), Ronald, and the late Bonnie Kory, held a special place in her heart, as did her role as sister-in-law to the late Patrick (Gloria), Penny (Bill), and late Peggy(Ben). Susan was an adored aunt to her beloved nieces and nephews and a treasured cousin to many. Her dedication to family was truly her whole life.
Susan's interests extended beyond her love of family and she found great delight in the company of her friends, who she absolutely adored.
As we bid farewell to Susan Couch, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy of love, kindness, and compassion that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts and memories of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her extraordinary life.

So sorry to hear of Sue's passing. Our families were close growing up in Chicago. Your grandma and grandpa. Stephanie and Hank, was our"aunt and uncle". She stood up ti my parents wedding. We visited often and played with Tom, Ronald, Donald, Bonnie and Sue - who was my age. I saw her often when my parents visited her parents. My last contact with her was when my mother died in 2006. We had a great chat! Im so happy that we shared in each other's lives. We had many memories. She will be missed but not forgotten.
