It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan Eliza DeLucia, 63, of Woodbury at her home January 9, 2025. She was the beloved mother of Donald Steele II and Amy Sue Steele and the grandmother of Emily Simone. Born May 23, 1963 in Waterbury, she was the daughter of Grace (Boulden) Doner and the late Vern Doner.
Susan loved her family. Her children were her joy. She adored her granddaughter Emily very much, the sun rose and set on her with whom she spent many happy hours. She enjoyed helping her good friends Patty and Don Clady at the Car Shows and Toy Drive every year.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son Donald of Woodbury, daughter Amy Sue of Waterbury, granddaughter Emily Simone of Litchfield, mother Grace Doner of Thomaston, former husband Scott DeLucia of Waterbury, sisters Roberta Challman and her husband Dennis of Thomaston, and Ellen Edwards and her husband Dana, of Conway, S.C., brother Louis Doner of Waterbury and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Sue was predeceased by her father Verne Doner and also her brother Verne Doner.
A celebration of Susan's life will be held on Friday January 17, 2025 at 7pm at Prospect Memorial/The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd., Prospect. Friends and family are invited to share time and memories on Friday at the funeral home from 5:30pm until the start of the service. Prospect Memorial /The Palmerie Family Funeral Home is honored to be assisting Susan's family with the arrangements and to care for them during this difficult time.
