Susan Elizabeth Grawn, 65, of Negaunee, passed away peacefully at home due to COPD complications Saturday afternoon, March 8, 2025 while in the care of her loving husband and Lake Superior Hospice.
Susan was born December 21, 1959 in Indianapolis to Albert and Barbara (Lunn) Wisner. When Sue was 11, Barbara married Harry Layfield who was instrumental in helping to raise her. She graduated from North Central High School in Indianapolis, Class of 1978, where she was a proud member of the marching band, playing the clarinet.
Sue attended Purdue University for one year until she realized it was best for her to choose a different path, so she spent several years working in the restaurant industry developing a loyal following with customers. She also worked for Kirby Vaccuum Cleaners and in sales in the radio industry. She always said, I went from 'sucking air to selling air.'
Susan loved her family and friends, she treated people with kindness and respect and had friends from all walks of life. She was a selfless volunteer when it came to helping others with rides or anything needed.
Surviving are her husband of 28 years, Michael Grawn; sister, Kimberly Wisner of Connecticut; step-brother, Todd (Krista) Layfield of Indianapolis; sisters-in-law: Linda (Dan) Rose, Cathy Fowler, Debbie (Joseph) Durfee and Stephanie (Doug) Guay; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Fredrick 'Jim' and Mary Grawn; and brother-in-law, Fredrick 'Jim' Grawn, Jr.
A Celebration of Life and potluck meal will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 29th at the Negaunee Eagles.
