Susan Haynie Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ziemer Funeral Home - East Chapel on Aug. 30, 2025.
Susan Valeria Haynie, 74, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at her home. She was born June 26, 1951 in St. Louis, MO to the late Grace V. (Wilson) and Miller F. Hughes, Sr.

Susan graduated from Harrison High School and attended Indiana University. Her time in Bloomington made her a Hoosier fan for life!

Susan made a 28-year career helping Southwestern Indiana residents find their place to call home. She began her career at Hahn Realtors, where she worked for ten years with her longtime colleague and friend, Carol McClintock. In 2007, Team McClintock joined F.C. Tucker

Emge, where they have been serving clients in the Evansville area for the past 18 years.

As a lifetime resident of Evansville, Susan combined her deep roots in the community with her professional expertise to provide clients with personalized and caring service. Susan was an empathetic advocate for her clients.

Over the course of her career, Susan guided more than 2,000 clients through the buying and selling process. Her professionalism, patience, and kindness left a lasting mark not only on her clients but also on her colleagues at both Team McClintock and the broader F.C. Tucker family.

Susan will be remembered not only as a dedicated real estate professional but also as a cherished friend whose generosity and spirit touched everyone who knew her. Susan had a special gift and commitment to turn every opportunity to entertain into an unforgettable experience. Time and again, she stepped in to make her friends' lives much more joyful.

Susan's home was always open to her children's friends who adoringly called her, "Mama Haynie". In an environment which allowed so many to enjoy each other's company, she always provided love, support and advice.

Susan showered her family with the deepest love and affection. "Queenie", as she was known by her grandchildren, rarely missed a swim meet, baseball, soccer or football game. She was her grandchildren's biggest fan and strongest supporter. Susan and her grandchildren shared a profound and mutual adoration. She will also be remembered for her innate sense of style and sharp wit. Susan carried herself with an effortless confidence, exhibited by a smart wardrobe and a kind, generous spirit. She was a trusted family friend to many.

Susan is survived by her sons, Kenneth G. (Erika) Haynie III and Matthew H. Haynie (fiancée, Charla Azbell); grandchildren, Hughes Haynie, Wesley Haynie, Pierce Haynie, Harper Haynie, Kenneth Haynie and George Haynie; and sister, Mary (Dr. David) Cory.

In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret "Margy" Haynie; and brother and sister-in-law, Mary and Frank Hughes, Jr.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville. A Funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1301 S. Green River Rd., Evansville with Father Bernie Etienne officiating. Entombment will be at Oak Hill Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan and Margy Haynie Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the Vanderburgh Community Foundation and mailed to 20 NW 3rd St., Suite 820 Evansville, IN 47708.

My heart is broken in so many places. My memories of this woman include love and stylish friendship. I am so sorry this ever happened.

Our two children were one of the many neighborhood kids that were touched by Susan and her family. I heard often from our daughter Brooke that their house was much more fun than ours. I am sure when Susan was greeted in heaven by God, Margie, her family, and friends who left before, somewhere in the back of her gathering, she saw Brian. Though it was far too soon for us, they are free of the earthly pain and sadness and now rejoice in their Lord's home. Our deepest sympathies to Ken, Matt, and all of the Haynie family. We pray God brings you peace.
With love, Eddie and Cindi Wessel
