Susan Marie Hoover

Susan Marie Hoover, 73, of Commerce Township, passed away peacefully on 8/29/2025. Susan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jere (d. 7/1/2025). Susan was the cherished mother of her only daughter, Cynthia Colson. Susan and Jere were happily married for 37 years. They met while working together for the State of Michigan. Together, they shared their love with several dogs and birds.

Her parents, George and Betty DeForest, preceded her in death. Susan was the youngest of three daughters. The oldest, Linda, preceded her in death and is survived by Cathy Kolesar.

Susan enjoyed her work at the Department of Human Services. She took great pride in helping people and guiding them with grace and care.

Susan was a wonderful cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family; notably, her potato salad and asparagus soup were favorites. She was an avid reader and could devour a book in a few days. She loved the arts, and she shared that love with her daughter. They would often attend exhibits and the theatre. Susan's favorite holiday was Christmas, and she would display her collection of more than 100 Santas every year.

Funeral from Lynch and Sons Funeral Home, 340 North Pontiac Trail, Walled Lake (3 Blocks South of Maple Rd.) Saturday, 11 AM. Friends may visit Friday 2-8 PM and Saturday 9 AM until time of service. Memorials to the American Heart Association appreciated.
