Sharon Oleksiak Obituary

She was born on February 23, 1955. She was a dedicated nurse for 35 years at Providence Hospital in Southfield.
Sharon was a devoted wife of Edward. Loving daughter of Edward Appleton. Beloved mother of Theresa (Mike), Tim (Katie), Susan (Craig), and Dan (Lauren). Adoring grandmother to Kara, Julia, Elena, Alexandra, Janie, Amelia, and Lucy. Dear sister to Joyce, Patricia, Ed, Terry, Mary, Dan, Alice, Bob, and Tim. She was known for her unending love for her family and selflessness in all she did. She was a strong patient advocate, and was always helping those in need.
She is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends and was preceded in death by her father, Edward, her sister, Joyce, and her son, Tim.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 31 from 1-8, and a funeral service will be held on Monday, September 1 at 11 AM (Visitation 10-11 AM) at Lynch and Sons Funeral Home, 340 North Pontiac Trail, Walled Lake.
She will be remembered for her strength, kindness towards those in need, and the joy her family and friends gave her.

I remember Sharon as one of the warmest, kindest and skilled nurses that mentored me when I joined the team on 6 East at Providence in Southfield back in the late 90´s. She quickly became a friend despite our generation gap. She also modeled what a mother and parent should be and loved her family very deeply and spoke of them often. I´m grateful for the years we worked bedside nursing together. Extending my deepest condolences to her family.
