Susan G. Hopkins

Our beloved mother, Susan (Suzi) Gail Hopkins, passed away peacefully on Sept 1,2025 at the age of 80. She was a force of nature, a source of endless laughter and the heart of our family.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas. Memorial Service will be Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 10:00 am at College View Baptist Church, 2042 Anderson Street, Abilene, Texas.

Born and raised in Niskayuna, NY to parents Dayton Irvin Baker and Alice Charlotte Whitmore, Suzi was a cherished mother, grandmother wife and friend. She found joy in the simple things: a good book, a quiet afternoon in the yard, and long conversations with her friends and family. She was a dedicated animal lover and her homes always had at least one animal that she spoiled extensively. She worked many jobs throughout her life but the jobs she took the most pleasure and was the most proud of was becoming an enrolled agent for H and R Block and after leaving there became a real estate agent at the tender age of 70.

Suzi married the love her life Robert James Hopkins (Bobby) August 29, 1986, and they were married for 34 years before his passing. She took pride in the fact that she was able to bring him to God. They were both members at College View Baptist Church. She loved her church and its members as well as the kids that attend. Children were very important to her; she found joy in sitting and watching the children play and swim.

She will be profoundly missed by her children Brandon Gaines (Peggy Stokes-Gaines) of Abilene, Sandy O’Hearn, and Jennifer Francis, Versie Mansaray, Robert Hopkins, Ruby Hawkins, Julie Hopkins, Don Hopkins; her grandchildren Brianna Gaines (Cameron Archuleta), Caelyn Gaines (Jose Murillo), Lauren Murray (Ken Murray) and Safula Mansaray as well as many wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren and friends. She was preceded in death by Leticia (daughter); Hannah (granddaughter); her husband Bobby and her parents Mr. and Mrs. Baker.

Our beautiful Suzi is at her final resting place with the love of her life. Her wings were ready, but our hearts were not, and she will be missed dearly by everyone who ever got to spend time with her.
