Susan B. Kaveney

1952 - 2024

Susan B. Kaveney, 72, of Bucktail Road, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at her home with her family by her side following a lengthy illness.

She was born on April 19, 1952 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Leroy and Gertrude Vollmer Ginther.

On May 24, 1980, she married the love of her life, James Kaveney, who survives. Together they were blessed with more than 44 years of marriage.

Sue was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, class of 1971. She was a lifelong member of Queen of the World Church, and retired from Accu-Sort after many years of service. In her younger years, she worked with her dad on the farm, and then went to work at Modern Dairy, where she would come to meet the love of her life, Jim, and together they spent their life on Bucktail, raising their family. Always keeping a beautiful and meticulous home, Susie gave a personal touch to everything she came across, always enjoying decorating her home. She also had an artistic flair, and loved painting and crafting. Throughout her younger years, she enjoyed being outdoors, especially riding motorcycles and snowmobiling. Her biggest treasure and accomplishment was her family, she adored her grandkids and loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, Jim, she is survived by three children; Jamie Eckert and her husband Henry, Matt Kaveney and his wife Katie, and Abby Sporner and her husband Josh, all of St. Marys; and by her 9 beloved grandchildren; Jacob, Emma, Baylor, Troy, Dean, Ella, Luke, Logan, and Kaylee.

She is also survived by four siblings; Thomas (Cookie) Ginther, Roger Ginther, Dennis (Alice) Ginther and Cathy (Fred) Trumbull Jr., all of St. Marys, by two sisters-in-law; Connie Ginther and Aurelia Ginther, and by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by two brothers; Frank Ginther and Gary Ginther; a sister; Mary Jane Ginther; a sister-in-law, Kathy Ginther, and by a granddaughter; Maddie Hope Eckert.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Susan B. Kaveney will be celebrated on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Rev. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, as celebrant.

Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received at the Queen of the World Church on Saturday, December 21, 2024 from 9:15 AM until the time of the Mass.
