Susan Keller Obituary

Susan Lillian Keller
Susan Lillian Keller, 78, lifelong resident of Vernon, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025, at The Residence at Glastonbury. She was born in Rockville on March 19, 1947, to Edward A. and Grace E. (Aborn) Keller.
Sue attended Vernon public schools and was a graduate of Rockville High School, Class of 1965. She then graduated from Central Connecticut State College in 1969 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Susan taught at Center Road School in Vernon for 35 years, alongside her good friend, Joanne (Jacobsen) Singer, before her retirement. She loved to cook, especially baking, and always had family and/or friends over to enjoy. Sue looked forward to getting away, and after a few schooner vacations with her friend, Kathy (Hughes) Klein out of Camden, Maine, it became one of her favorite getaway towns which she visited yearly with her best friend and sister, Grace Ann (Keller) Hirth. The two of them liked to travel and frequently visited Disney World before Grace's passing in 2024. Sue also had a fantastic trip with her cousin, Wayne, to Canada as well as two other, 3-day trips to Paris and Amsterdam. She had great fun with her bridge group, the Red Hat Society ladies, and performing with the Hooked on Country dancer's group. She especially loved belonging to and touring with the Millenium Magic Chorus group, a part of Sweet Adelines International where she met her good friends, Darlene Netkin and Pamela Leibow.
Susan's cousins, Patricia (Aborn) Schlag of Ellington, and Wayne Reiske of Vernon, would like to thank Priority Care for sending Ocoya Wilson as Susan's personal care aide who took such good care of her.
Susan leaves behind many cousins in Connecticut as well as out of state. Her burial will be held privately in Grove Hill Cemetery, Rockville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, in Vernon, are in care of her arrangements.
