Susan "Rene" Knight, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter-in-law, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5th at 8:11 PM. She was 69 years young. Born on Wednesday, November 16th, 1955, in Beckley, West Virginia, to Tom and Peggy Knight, Rene lived a life defined by love, generosity, and joy. She was a radiant presence, known for her signature dimples and smile that could brighten even the darkest room. Rene attended Florida State University, where she earned both her undergraduate and master's degrees. A dedicated public servant, she devoted 39 years to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, rising to the role of Chief of Staff. In 2012, she transitioned to become the Operations Director at the Florida Housing Finance Corporation, where she served for another five years. Rene made lasting connections wherever she went, bringing warmth, integrity, and purpose to everything she did. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, friends, and especially her cherished pets. Her compassion extended to every living being, and her life was a beautiful testament to kindness, humor, and the motto she lived by: Carpe Diem – Seize the Day. Rene was preceded in death by her beloved mother Peggy, her father Tom, and her firstborn daughter, Sandra. We take comfort in the thought of their joyful reunion in Heaven-no doubt enjoying her mother's famous chocolate chip cookies together. She leaves behind a loving legacy and a family who adored her. Rene is survived by her husband of 20 years, Jim; her children Krista, Sean (Kerri), and Samantha Rene; her grandchildren Makensie, Cameron, Kylie Rene, Alyssa, Dylan, and Madison Rene; her great-grandchild Kylo; and her brothers Kevin and James. Her presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 8th in Tallahassee. More details will be shared in the near future. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the ASPCA, a cause that was close to Rene's heart. Susie Mozolic of Bevis Funeral Home is assisting the family with their arrangements. (www.bevisfh.com or 850-385-2193)

RIP. Your beautiful smile and amazing energy will never be forgotten. I count myself lucky to have known you! Thanks for all the snacks when Sean and I were boys!

Rene was a dear, dear friend and I loved her. She was one of the sweetest and precious woman that I ever knew. Her smile and those big temples would like up any room. My husband and I met Rene in the early seventies. Her love for her children was one of the strongest bond I have ever known and she loved each one with all her heart. I miss her very much, but I know her and Sandra are dancing in heaven.
