Susan Krohn Obituary

Susan Krohn, 74, of Hampton Roads, VA and Estero, FL, having lived a vibrant and full life, has passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, at the Hopewell House in Portland, OR on Dec 29, 2023.

Susan was born on Oct. 3, 1949 to Margaret and Edwin Scott in Pine Bush, NY. A voracious reader and gifted artist, Susan obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts in sculpture from the Philadelphia College of Art. She went on to rise through the ranks of the Virginian Pilot newspaper as a marketing director, and then founded her own upscale women's consignment and retail boutique, Worth the Wait. After a successful 12 year run, Susan sold her business and retired to Florida where she enjoyed a creative renaissance making jewelry out of vintage Mah Jongg tiles. Susan was a fixture at Mah Jongg games and tournaments, as well as bowling leagues, book clubs, foreign film clubs, art shows and operas. She was a beloved mother and wonderful host; she loved to cook, travel, make strangers laugh, and mentor young women she met throughout her life.

Susan was predeceased by her older sister Mary Rolnick and two husbands, Paul Sincoff and Rabbi Philip Krohn. She is survived by two sons, Paul Sincoff, 50 and David Krohn, 39 as well as her granddaughter Sydney Sincoff, 9.

A celebration of her life will be held at Congregation Brith Shalom, 4610 Bellaire Blvd, Houston, TX 77401 on Sunday, January 7th at 2:30pm and will be live streamed via the following link https://youtu.be/zy7KraLPA5A. In lieu of flowers, Susan has requested donations be made to Brith Shalom. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.hdoliver.com

susan Krohn was a true renaissance woman. She was a true woman of valor. She could do everything. She was a compassionate friend,a loving amazing mother to two incredible young men, and an adoring grandmother. She could do everything, She could cook, make jewelry, have fun like few other women, and an outstanding businesswoman. She was an accomplished artist and teacher. She put other women to shame in her accomplishments while making them feel good about themselves. At the "right time", she found a travel partner that we all loved and adored and visited so many places that we only dreamt about seeing with such an amazing tour quide. She knew when to exit her Virginia business and found her place in Florida where she continued to be a leader, friend and role model. She put the rest of us to shame with her talents and abilities while never flaunting her exceeding talent. She met every negative with two positives, even her illness which came way too soon. There is comfort in knowing that her two exceptional sons and special granddaughter will bring forth the best of her qualities. We shall all miss her in different ways. She was one of a kind and I can't imagine this world without her. She will be missed but not fogotten. Rest in Peace our dear Susan. Love, Roz

Susan was a true "renaissance"woman, She was also a true "woman of valor." This amazing, loving, caring, competent person was capable of just everything!! She was an amazing mother, grandmother and friend. She could cook , bake, create art, grow plants and create jewelry. She adapted to her move to Florida and knew how to "be there" for both her family and friends. She found travel partners to open up the world in ways few people ever had the chance. She made all of her talents seem effortless and those of us she left behind are lost, lonely and panicked to be without her friendship and wisdom. Susan, you are dearly loved by those of us you left behind. You will not be forgotten and moving forward is so difficult without you. You left two fine sons, not just good looking, but good men and a granddaughter who will miss all those talents you haven't yet been able to teach her. You have left big wholes in so many hearts who didn't imagine that out time together would be cut so short! Please know you are loved and will be missed by so many. Rest in peace dear Susan. Love, Roz
