Susan Ann Manning

Susan Ann (Wolfreys) Manning, 73, of East Middlebury, VT, passed away peacefully at home on March 4, 2026 after a long illness. Born on September 2, 1952, in Middlebury, VT and raised in Dorchester, MA.

Susan grew up in the city but always dreamed of moving to VT, a dream she accomplished in 1992. Susan was a woman of quiet strength and unwavering dedication to her family.

She found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in reading and collecting books. Her love for literature was matched only by her appreciation for nature and her keen interest in politics. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her and were touched by her kindness and wisdom.

She is survived by her two children, Brian Manning and Janelle Manning of Panton, VT; her brothers William Wolfreys and his wife Barbara of MA, Robert Wolfreys of VT, and James Wolfreys of CA; as well as many cousins, friends, and extended family members. Susan was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Leo J. Manning; her mother Luella (Foster) Wolfreys; and her father William Wolfreys.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date in the late spring or early summer.
