Kathy Manning Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cremation Society of Kansas & Missouri - Kansas City on Mar. 12, 2026.
Kathy Ann Manning (née Kresin), age 68, passed away on March 5, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri. Born on May 30, 1957, in Kansas City, Kathy was the beloved daughter of the late Rose Mary Kresin Denzer and Eugene Kresin. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church, a faith that guided her throughout her life.

Kathy graduated from Center High School in Kansas City, Missouri. She went on to build a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories. For 45 years, she was married to Fred Manning, whom she lovingly referred to as the love of her life. Together, they created a family that brought her immense joy and pride. Kathy is survived by her daughter Jessica Manning; her son Matthew Manning and his wife Bethany Vroom; sisters Cindy Whitford; Jan Lindsey. She will also be greatly missed by her mother-in-law Alberta Manning; Stanley (Butch) Manning and wife Debbie; Laura Sanden; and Todd Manning. She also leaves her beloved and treasured grandson Lawrence "Larry" Fultz, as well as many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Kathy's family was the cornerstone of her life. She delighted in spending time with her grandson Larry, creating magical memories such as their holiday adventure aboard the Polar Express Train. Her love for trains stemmed from childhood trips to Norborne, Missouri, where she visited her grandparents- memories she cherished deeply.

Kathy had a vibrant spirit and a zest for life that touched everyone around her. She adored camping, boating and fishing, often gathering with family around a campfire to share stories and laughter. Her culinary talents were legendary within the family-her exceptional omelets and homemade rolls were eagerly anticipated at every gathering. For two decades, Kathy hosted Christmas celebrations for her sisters and their families, a tradition filled with warmth and togetherness. She also enjoyed preparing ravioli for Christmas dinners with her Manning family.

Kathy's adventurous nature extended beyond the kitchen. She loved attending local festivals such as The Renaissance Fair and SantaCaliGon Days. Her passion for music from the 1960s was evident in her fondness for artists like Paul McCartney and Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits fame. She shared this love with her daughter Jessica by attending concerts together, creating unforgettable experiences.

As a mother, Kathy embraced every opportunity to support her children's interests. When Matt developed a passion for BMX bike racing, she enthusiastically took him to the track several times a week to watch him excel in the sport. She also served as a Girl Scout leader for Jessica's troop, fostering a sense of community and adventure.

Kathy's love for animals was evident from an early age when she would bring stray dogs home from school-much to her mother's dismay! Her affection for dogs remained constant throughout her life.

Her adventurous spirit shone through in countless ways. Whether driving to explore new places or diving into activities like swimming with her children, Kathy rarely stayed still for long. Her enthusiasm for life was infectious and left an indelible mark on those who knew her.

In addition to these passions, Kathy had an affinity for games like Candy Crush-a pastime that brought lighthearted joy to her days.

Kathy's legacy is one of love, laughter, and boundless energy. Her warmth and generosity will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind as they celebrate a life well-lived. A service will be held at a later date to honor Kathy's remarkable life.
