Walter Bolt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cremation Society of Kansas & Missouri - Kansas City on Mar. 12, 2026.
Walter R. "Ben" Bolt of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on March 2, 2026 at St Luke's Hospital. He was born in Weehawken, New Jersey on September 28, 1942 and raised in Kinnelon, New Jersey. After graduating from high school, he joined the Air Force where he honorably served for 7 years. It is in the Air Force where he earned his nick name, "Big Ben Bolt", a name he preferred and carried with him the rest of his life. Besides New Jersey, Ben lived in many places across the country, including Texas, California, Washington State, Oregon, Illinois, and for the past 35 years, Kansas City, Missouri.

Throughout his career, Ben dedicated himself to several high-tech medical manufacturing companies, where his extraordinary talent with electronics and intricate medical equipment was nothing short of legendary. He delighted in sharing his vast knowledge with others, always taking time to teach and guide, finding immense joy in witnessing the success of those he mentored. Ben's playful spirit and sense of humor brought laughter and light to every room he entered, endearing him to family and friends alike. One of his proudest achievements was founding his own dart business in Springfield, Missouri- a venture born out of his passion for both competition and camaraderie, and one that brought a unique blend of fun and friendship to so many.

After five years, Ben and Marty decided to return to Kansas City, where he sold his business and worked for Merry X-Ray until retiring in 2018. He enjoyed spending time with his cherished dog, Zoey who adored him. Ben was a good man who loved his family and cared deeply for others. He adored spending time with his family and always provided unconditional support and love. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marty, his four daughters Kris Weisbrod, Karen Frembgren, Jennifer Altschuler and Carol Drake as well as two stepsons, Scott Hendrix, Todd Hendrix, one step-daughter, Kimberly Tarpley, seven grandchildren and 2 great grand-daughters. Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Bolt and his brother, Joseph Jr.

His family will honor his wishes by celebrating his life and cherishing their memories of Ben, each in their own private and meaningful way.

He will be interred at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri.
