John & Barb Wylie
October 11, 2025
Since the day Barb and I met Susie, we respected and learned to love her. She represented a lot that was, and still is, important to us. A endearing love of family, and respect for our nation, plus a relaxed comfort with everyone we mutually knew. With special emphasis on her daughter, who married our son and bore our grandson, we three never let any circumstance come between us (and some could if we let it happen) and enjoyed our brief times together with a joy we all shared.
Here´s a loving poem in memory of Susie McRae, celebrating her life and the legacy of love she leaves behind:
---
In Memory of Susie McRae
In the gentle whisper of the autumn breeze,
A legacy of love, like the rustling leaves,
Ninety-seven years, a life richly spun,
A grandmother's heart, forever a beacon.
With three daughters raised in a garden of grace,
She nurtured their dreams, gave each one a place,
Through laughter and tears, in joy and in strife,
She wove the threads of an enduring life.
In Girl Scouting's embrace, she served with pride,
A leader, a guide, always by their side,
The DAR's spirit, she carried so well,
In stories of courage, her wisdom would swell.
For grandson Gregory, a light in her eyes,
Her love, like the stars, will never disguise,
Though she´s gone from our sight, her spirit remains,
In the hearts of her family, her love still sustains.
So let us remember, with each passing day,
The warmth of her smile, the kind words she'd say,
In the tapestry of life, her threads brightly gleam,
For Susie McRae lives on in our dream.
