Susan Mary Richardson, 53, of Voluntown, CT, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Kent Hospital, with all her family at her side. She was born in Providence, RI. She was the daughter of the late James J. and Irene (McDonnell) Richardson. She was the beloved wife of her lifelong love, David M. Romano. Susan worked 15 years as a teacher’s aide for the Attleboro School Department and later went on to be a Home Health Care Service Professional.

Always passionate about helping others, she received great admiration from all she served. Her spirit was kind and loving always looking to help with charity and love. She enjoyed spending time traveling and trying new food venues with her husband. Family was always her top priority above all, as well as her favorite little cat. Susan’s smile always lit up a room and she always made friends everywhere she went, leaving a long-lasting impression.

She was a loving mother of two children: Madison Rebecca Dewey and Justin Myles Dewey of Taunton, MA. She was stepmother to Marco Giovanni Romano, Siena Louise Romano, and Americo David Romano, who loved and admired her and learned so much from her. She was the sister to Sheri A. Della Grotta and her partner Timothy Wolfe of Cranston, Sandra M. Smith of Johnston. She was the sister-in-law of the late Mario Della Grotta and Paul E. Smith, III. She was the cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews.

In a tender twist of fate, Susan will be sharing funeral services with her beloved father who passed away just three days before her. Her funeral will leave at 9:00 am on Monday, October 27, 2025, from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Avenue, Johnston. VISTING HOURS will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 4:00 pm-7:00 pm.
