Susan Fiedler Ruby, age 79, of The Villages, Florida, and longtime resident of Longwood, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, after bravely battling a long illness.
Susan was born on March 2, 1946, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late William Fiedler and the late Laverne Daniel. She grew up in Russellville, Kentucky, where she graduated from Russellville High School before attending Western Kentucky University. It was there that she met the love of her life, Tom Ruby. Their love story began in college and grew into a beautiful marriage that lasted nearly 50 years, built on devotion, respect, laughter, and an unbreakable bond.
Susan built a successful and fulfilling career in commercial real estate, a profession she truly loved. She began her career at DSJ in Orlando and later continued at Cushman & Wakefield, where she earned recognition as a top female saleswoman in the state of Florida. Her professionalism, determination, and passion for her work earned her deep respect throughout her career.
At the heart of Susan’s life was her love for Tom. Even after his passing, her devotion to him never faded. Their marriage was the foundation of her happiness, and she carried his love with her every day. Family, friends, and memories of their life together brought her comfort and strength.
Susan also found joy in playing bridge and cherished the friendships she made through the game. She loved the holidays and family gatherings and took great pride in decorating, cooking, and baking for those she loved. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she was overjoyed to have her entire family together this past Christmas—a moment that will be treasured forever.
A devoted Christian woman, Susan’s faith in God guided her life and inspired all who knew her. She was kind, gracious, and deeply loving—a woman whose presence brought warmth and comfort to others.
Susan is survived by her three children, daughter Kimberly Bledsoe of The Villages, Florida; son Eric Ruby (Stephanie) of Tampa, Florida; and daughter Ashley Patrick (Al) of Cass City, Michigan. She is also survived by her four grandsons, Carter and Trent Patrick, and Austin and Walker Ruby, who were her greatest joy.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tom Ruby; her father, William Fiedler of Russellville, Kentucky; her mother, Laverne Daniel of Lake Mary, Florida; her stepfather, Dan Daniel of Lake Mary, Florida; and her sisters, Penny Fiedler and Pamela Rueff.
Susan will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
A Celebration of Life honoring Susan’s life will be held on April 18, 2026, in The Villages, Florida. The location will be announced at a later date.
Susan’s legacy of faith, love, family devotion, and an enduring love story will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
