Susan Conway Sanders passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, in Grove, Oklahoma, at the age of 96. She was born on November 19, 1929, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Susan lived a life rich in experiences and creativity.
Susan dedicated many years of her professional life to the Grand River Dam Authority, where she worked until her retirement at the age of 62. Her career reflected diligence and long-term service. She enjoyed traveling extensively and spent many years exploring destinations around the world alongside her late husband, Robert Sanders. She often boasted “65 countries in 27 years”, often photographing and then painting some of her favorite destinations; she was an exceptional painter. Susan also pursued an interest in art through studies at Rogers State University and through private art lessons. She appreciated unique experiences and adventures, including flying seaplanes on Grand Lake.
Her interests included quilting, gardening, painting, and traveling with Bob; her husband, and spending time with her grandchildren. In her later years, Susan resided at Grandwood in Grove, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sanders; her parents, Lee Roy and Gladys (Ferrill) Jones; and her sister, Dorine Tomer. Susan is survived by her sons, Byron “B.G.” Cogle and Christopher Cogle; her daughters, Connie Coile and Becky Sanders; her grandchildren, Kimberly Cornett (Rob), Charles Cogle (Joanne), Amanda Hanson (Greg), Tiffany Cogle, Misha Coile, and Craig Coile; as well as her ten great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren, whom she adored and doted over.
A visitation will be held on January 29, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Shipman’s Funeral & Cremation Service, 1204 N.E. 1st Street, Pryor, Oklahoma. A funeral service will follow on January 30, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the same location. Burial will take place immediately thereafter at Graham Memorial Cemetery, 6 N Adair Street, Pryor, Oklahoma.
