Susan Seiler Obituary

Susan Seiler
June 5, 1951 - August 17, 2025
It is with a heavy heart that we share Susan Hope (Baron) Seiler passed away peacefully at home on August 17, 2025.
Born and raised in Stamford, Connecticut, Susan was the daughter of Betty and Max Baron, the third of six children in a lively home on Lawn Avenue with her siblings Judy, Lynnie, Steven, Alan, and Sandi.
She raised her three sons-Jonathan, Sam, and Michael-with love and joy, taking pride in watching her family grow. Her genuine good nature, ease, and smile live on in her children and grandchildren.
For more than 35 years, Susan devoted herself to the youngest learners at The Long Ridge School, where she nurtured curiosity and kindness in hundreds of children. She led with empathy, made her students feel safe and loved, and became a source of comfort to all who knew her.
Most content in nature, Susan loved walks in the woods, relaxing by the water, and simple pleasures with her partner, Frank Thomas. Her greatest joy was being with her grandchildren-Max, Peri, Maya, Brody, Emmy, Ryder, Noah, and Kai. Just as her mother Betty had been the nucleus of the family, Susan became its heart, keeping everyone close, expanding the circle, and ensuring love was always at the center.
Susan's light continues through her partner Frank; her sons Jonathan (Tracy), Sam (Gal), and Michael (Jessie); her cherished grandchildren; her siblings; and the many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends she touched throughout her life.

I didn't have Susan at LRS when I was a student but she was always such a warm and kind presence. Thinking about the her family (and the LRS family).

Condolences to the whole family. I had the pleasure of working with Susan at LRS for the past 4 years. She was a great coworker who always listened and was supportive. I will miss my morning chats with her, her positive outlook on life and her calm demeanor with the students. I will always remember her warmly.

Dear Michael, Sam , Jon, and Frank, extended family and friends,

I am sure life is feeling a bit surreal for all of you. The past few years have been intense, this last year very tough, and today - hard, really hard.

Elizabeth Kubler-Ross, a renowned psychiatrist wrote:
"The reality is you will grieve forever. You will not `get over´ the loss of a loved one; you will learn to live with it. You will heal and you will rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered. You will be whole again but you will never be the same again. Nor should you be the same, nor should you want to."

A friend said when we lose someone we love we must learn not to live without them, but to live with the love they left behind. Given the stories I´ve heard over the years Susan truly and deeply loved her family - her sons and their wives, her grandchildren, and Frank. Simply put, Susan left an abundance of love for all of you. Do her right and build on her legacy.

Bruce and I are so very sorry for your loss.
