Susan Shields Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Homes, P.C. - Emmaus on Feb. 16, 2026.
It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Susan E. Shields, who peacefully passed away on February 12, 2026, at the age of 82, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on August 21, 1943, in New Jersey, she was the daughter of George Winfield and Doris Scott. She grew up in Cranford, New Jersey, and went on to become a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Susan practiced nursing in both Illinois and New Jersey, dedicating her professional life to caring for others.

Susan was a devoted mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she poured her heart into making sure those she loved always felt supported, encouraged, and deeply cared for. She had a special gift for listening and helping others without judgment, often putting her own needs aside for the sake of her family. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren.

She was known for her spirited personality and her deep passion for the things she loved most. Always supportive of her husband and his many interests, she took pride in helping others and being a steady presence in their lives. She had a way of making everyone feel safe, seen, and valued. Her love was unwavering, her strength was quiet, and her presence was truly a gift to all who knew her. She loved the beach and spent her summers growing up on Long Beach Island, where she met her husband - a place that always held a special meaning in her heart.

She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Shields, Patricia Gatter, and Angel Scott Shields; her grandchildren, Andrew Shields, Nora Shields, Scott Gatter, and Jake Gatter; her brother, Angel Donald Scott; and many loving extended family members and dear friends.

A private funeral service will be held in March on Long Beach Island. Arrangements by Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Homes, Emmaus, www.BKRFH.com

Though our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the years we were blessed to share with her. Her legacy of love, resilience, and compassion will continue to guide us. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Susu, we love you so very much and know that you will be forever with us in our hearts and spirit.
