Mt. Holly - Susan Lankford Silvers, a beloved member of our community and a devoted family woman, peacefully passed away on November 12, 2025, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center-Belmont, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 23, 1952, in Winston Salem, North Carolina, Susan’s life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family, her work, and her community.
For over 15 years, Susan served as a Pharmacy Technician at Charlie's Drug & Sundries, where her caring nature and dedication to her job earned her the respect and admiration of all who knew her. Beyond her career, she was a cherished member of Parkwood Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and participated enthusiastically in Growth Groups and Bible studies. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, enriching her relationships and providing her with deep joy and purpose.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Margaret Welch Lankford, her infant granddaughter, Kelsey Silvers, brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Brenda Lankford.
Susan is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Kenneth "Barry" Silvers, her devoted son, Matthew (Stacie) Silvers, and step-daughter, Heather (Justin) McManus. She delighted in the company of her wonderful grandchildren: Anna Katherine Silvers, Lexi Grace Silvers, Michael Fuller, Zach Fuller, Dillon Fuller, and Kalie McManus. Susan was also a proud grandmother to her great grandchildren, Carter Robinson and Millie-Kate Fuller. She is also survived by her niece, Christina Lankford (Kevin) and their son, Kristian, as well as her nephew, Brian Lankford (Sarah) and their son, William, and many wonderful friends. She was passionate about caring for others, especially her mother in love, Marie Silvers, and her pride and joy were her son and grandchildren
Susan's hobbies included camping, riding motorcycles, attending church retreats, reading and traveling and one of her greatest joys was baking with her granddaughters. She also had a fondness for her dogs, showcasing her nurturing spirit and love for all creatures.
Her commitment to her community was evident in her support for the Charlotte Fire Department and the Community Volunteer Fire Department, reflecting her deep-seated desire to give back and lend a hand where needed.
In remembering Susan's life, we celebrate the pride she took in her family and the positive impact she had on those around her. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 PM at Parkwood Baptist Church, located at 1729 East Garrison Blvd, Gastonia, NC 28054 with Pastor Jeff Long and Mike Rice officiating. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, 1200 South New Hope Road, Hillcrest section. pallbearers will be Jim Benfield, Marcus Brendle, Jim Carver, Clay Dunn, Darryl Love, Jesse Watts and honorary pallbearer, Ken Carpenter.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Belmont for their compassionate care for Susan and her family.
