Aiken, SC—Mrs. Susan Fenollosa Sorenyi-Sander, age 87, entered into rest on Tuesday December 30, 2025, at her residence. She was the beloved wife of the late Mr. Istvan Sorenyi-Sander and the daughter to the late Mr. Sidney Watts Fenollosa and the late Mrs. Geraldine Samson Fenollosa. Mrs. Sorenyi-Sander was a native of Bronx, NY, but had made the Aiken area her home for the last 40 years. She attended Wellesley Women’s College in Wellesley, MA, where she graduated Cum Laude in 1959. She later attended Columbia University in New York where she attained her masters degree in 1964. Mrs. Sorenyi-Sander lived in Venezuela for some time where she met her husband Istvan Sorenyi-Sander. Mrs. Sorenyi-Sander was a science teacher for Ridge Spring Monetta High School for many years. She had a passion for teaching. She also taught English to those learning the language. Mrs. Sorenyi-Sander also had a love for animals. She loved her cats and dogs. She especially loved her horses. She loved riding and taking care of them. She will be missed by all who knew her. Survivors include: one cousin Michael Fenollosa, NH; her caretaker Chely Vera, Aiken, SC; and her best friend of 50 years Betty Rankin, Rock Hill, SC. Additionally, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Samson and Susan Fenollosa. A private service with the family will take place at a later date.
