Susan Stanko Obituary
Susan Anna Stanko, of Midland, Michigan, passed away peacefully with family by her side on October 8, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on September 3, 1948, in Youngstown, Ohio, Susan dedicated her life to the well-being of others, both through her professional work and personal endeavors.
Susan graduated from Campbell Memorial High School in Campbell, Ohio. After high school, Susan became a Radiological Technician, working for the next 50 years for various practices around Midland and finished her work career at the Orthopedic Group at the Midland Hospital, retiring in 2018.
Susan was an avid exerciser, maintaining a rigorous routine that saw her at the East End every weekday without fail. Her dedication to her health and fitness was an inspiration to many and a testament to her life.
Susan was an active member of the Catholic community initially at the St. Brigid Parish and finally at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish as a Lector and Eucharist Minister.
Susan married Joseph Stanko on August 8, 1970. In addition to her husband of 55 years, Susan is survived by her children, Mara Stanko, Barbara Doyle, David Stanko (Jennifer Barnard), and Jason Stanko (Michelle); her grandchildren, Isaac Doyle, Sydnee Stanko, Kaycee Stanko, and Abby Barnard; her brother Joseph Kalaman Jr. (Melissa); and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family will greet guests on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St., Midland, MI, and at the church, one hour before the start of the funeral Mass. The funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 3516 E. Monroe Rd., Midland, MI.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Susan's name may be made through Global Compassion Inc., www.globalcompassioninc.org.
