Susan Ann Red Star, peacefully passed away on December 1, 2025, in Crow Agency, MT. She was born February 19, 1953, in Crow Agency, to Fred and Ruth (House) Alden. Her Indian name, Bahinnáachesh "Works all the Time", was given to her by Doretha Adams. She is a member of the Big Lodge Clan and a child of Greasy Mouth clan.
She attended school at St. Xavier Boarding School, Hardin, Flandreau Indian School, Phoenix and Eastern Montana College. She worked for CHR Community Health Services for 30-plus years. Susan married Aaron Red Star in 2008 and made their home at Black Lodge. Susan enjoyed making moccasins, dancing regalia and going into sweats with her family and visiting. She was very supportive of all her nieces, nephews and grandkids with their sports activities and special events. Susan was a very kind person who never said no to anyone. She always wanted to help her family and friends.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Ruth Alden; her brothers Fred Alden III, Gary Plenty Buffalo, Ricky Fighter, Tim and Ben Bigman, Alvin and Joe Alden, Pete Bearshield and Milton "Bubba" Noel; her grandchildren AnFernee "Cowboy" Birdinground, Kevin White, DrewAnn Takes Gun and Mikayla Plenty Buffalo; her nephew Emery Yallup; her sisters Jacqueline Ware and Daphne Alden and great granddaughter Rory Old Chief.
Survivors include her husband Aaron; her children Alex Birdinground, Tara White, Erin Quinn, Kevin and Keaton Red Star; grandchildren Sharonda, Toni, Darik, Hillary, Carol, Nas, Essence, Amir, Arsiah, Mashaya, Terrel, Savaya, Zayden and Treylou; great grandchildren Larlynn, Logan, Larry IV, Aaleigha, Sylas, LaSkya, Kai'reece, Leviah, Lashay, Mila, Mia, Carlos, Andrew, Ashton, Emmarie, Landon, Axel, Jacob, Arturo and Jazon; great great grandchild Caldera Gutierrez; sisters Jana Alden, Shirley Fighter, Gladys Brien, Cindy Bearcloud, Elizabeth Fighter, Ann Little Light, Farol Bigman, Marie Rogers, Colleen Black Eagle, Lori House, Rebecca, MayAnn, Mary Kay Rogers, Ora Mae, Theodean Hugs, Anita, Francis, Clara, Laurie, Jocelyn and Gloria Noel; brothers Pat, Sr., Leon and Aaron Alden and Alex Bearcrane; aunts Fanny Plenty, Mary Iron, Linda Girl, Francine, Davine and Sandra Grant; uncles Richard "Big Boy" House, Raymond "Redskin" House, Larry Dwayne Old Elk, Jimmy James and Benito Morrison; nieces Kaylene, Rhonda, Shelly, Carlene, Rochelle, Tanisha, April, Kristy, Yolanda, Marcel, Kalsie, Tiarra, Tanaya and Alicia Dawn; nephews Patrick, Michael John, Gary "Bungudee", Fred "Little Boy", Taylan and Brandon Alden, Hudson, Kendal Old Horn, adopted brother Cedric Black Eagle; adopted daughters Leslie, Malessa and Nevaeh Alden and Suzette Old Horn; adopted sons Joseph Gardner and Baby Sheep.
