Beverly Ann Star

Beverly Star, age 95, of Corsicana, Texas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Dunkirk, New York, Beverly grew up with strong family values and a warm spirit that remained with her throughout her life. She graduated from Cassadaga Valley High School, where she began dating Fred Star, they married in 1950 and built a beautiful life together. In 1964, Bev and Fred moved to Rochester, New York, where they raised their three children.

Bev was a stay-at-home mom whose love, kindness, and steady presence guided her family. An exceptional cook, her home was known for good food and a full cookie jar. Their home was the place of many happy family gatherings. As her children grew, Bev shared her love of cooking beyond her own kitchen. She retired from her cooking career as the chef at a retirement home in Rochester. After retiring, Bev and Fred traveled the United States by motorhome before purchasing a home in southern Texas where they celebrated 67 years of marriage.

Bev was an avid reader her entire life. In her last couple years she enjoyed quiet afternoons with a good book in her sunshine filled window. Bev often shared calls with her sister Jean about the latest books they were reading. Bev kept a sharp mind through endless games of Scrabble with family and learned to play Dominos when she moved to Heritage Oaks and enjoyed weekly games with her neighbors Wanda and Paula. Bev enjoyed walking with friends and continued doing so into her 80's.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, and her husband, Fred.

Beverly is survived by her children, Joan Massare (Peter), Dan Star (Lou Ann), and Ruth Star (Mike Strong), grandchildren, Tonia Massare DelMonte (Angelo), Rachael Stelly (Dustin), and Laura Porting (Daniel); and her sister, Jean Murphy.

Bev will be remembered for her gentle heart, resilience, smile, and sense of humor. She was a loving Mom, Granny, sister, and friend whose warmth touched all who knew her.

Her family is deeply grateful to her daughter-in-law, Lou Ann, for her love, care and time she devoted to Bev after putting in a full day of work. Bev always looked forward to Sunday dinner with Lou Ann and Dan.

A celebration of Beverly's life will be held at a later date.
