David F. Yagger, 80, of Edgewood Community, Jamestown, formerly of Sinclair Dr., Sinclairville was welcomed into Heaven on Sunday, December 7, 2025 after a courageous five year battle with intercranial sinus cancer. A lifelong area resident David was born December 13, 1944 in the family home on High St. in Cassadaga, NY. He was the son of the late Clarence "Casey" and May Keopke Yagger. Dave was a 1963 graduate of Cassadaga Valley High School. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War from 1963 to 1966. He served in Vietnam and Korea. While serving in the Army as a Heavy Artillery Repair Technician he was selected to play in the semi-pro football Armed Forces League in Korea and Japan. He was employed by Blackstone Corporation for 10 years and prior to retirement was employed by Cummins Engine in Lakewood for 29 years retiring in 2007. He was employed as a Tool Designer at both Blackstone and Cummins. Dave attended Park Methodist Church, Bemus Methodist Church, and Rock Church in Lakewood. Dave was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed deer, turkey, and small game hunting, golfing, hiking, walking and cross country skiing. He enjoyed dancing along with his wife Gloria. They were both great dancers and enjoyed dancing at various legions and clubs. Pie was his dessert of choice. No matter if it was apple, rhubarb, blackberry, blueberry, or elderberry Dave would often be on the back porch or front porch enjoying a nice homemade slice of pie with a slice of white sharp cheese. Pie was one of the simple pleasures in life that he most enjoyed. Most of all Dave was a family man and enjoyed spending time with family, especially his six grandchildren. He was also a dog lover, any dog that lived in the Yagger household was a part of the family. He will be remembered as a devoted faithful loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, and friend. He had a strong Christian Faith and hard work no nonsense work ethic. Dave had a contagious laugh and great sense of humor. One word that best describes Dave is, "Simple." Surviving is his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Gloria A. Schroeder Yagger whom he married July 13, 1968 in Stockton, NY. Also surviving are his three children: Lorie R. (Daniel) Johnson of Jamestown, Stacey L.
