Susan Marie Taylor, née Carrion, of Waunakee, WI died on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the age of 68 in Madison, WI. She was born on October 22, 1956 in Chicago, IL, to Regina "Virginia" Emilia Carrion and Raymond William Carrion.
Susan graduated from West Leyden High School in 1974 with a passion and talent for writing. After a successful career, Susan married Steven Blake Taylor in 1988 and gave birth to two children, Anna Mae Sugden née Taylor and Nathaniel Blake Taylor. Susan was an active member of her community, teaching catechism classes at St. John the Baptist’s parish in Waunakee, WI, serving on the Waunakee Community School District’s Parent Teacher Association, and volunteering in the library at Prairie Elementary in Waunakee. For a time, Susan worked in the Waunakee Community School District before dedicating herself to her job with the Wisconsin Conference United Church of Christ. In all of these professional and personal endeavors, Susan cultivated a community of friends who delighted in her joyousness, light-heartedness, and graciousness. Susan loved show tunes, live theater, writing, and the city of Chicago. For every occasion, Susan had a song to sing and, with her passing, she leaves a choir of loving family and friends to carry on the tune and to sing of her great joy and love.
Susan is survived by her daughter, Anna (Andy) Sugden; her son, Nathaniel (Cassandra) Taylor; her grandchildren Silas and Henry Taylor; her sister Deborah (Daniel) Billings; her brothers Curt (Susan) Carrion and Raymond (Lesley) Carrion. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Raymond and Virginia.
