Everyone's favorite retired fourth grade school teacher, Susannah Mary (Alfredson) Lee, passed away peacefully at 7:25 Tuesday morning 9/16/25 at Asbury Gardens in North Aurora, IL. She was 89 years of age.
Sue was a delight in the classroom at Big Rock Elementary School for nearly forty years. Former students remember fondly her Bonus Bucks program and all the fun she brought to learning. In addition to her teaching degree, Sue was a finishing school graduate who kept a meticulous household and expected her loved ones to mind their "P's" and "Q's" which we tested frequently much to her delight. Sue often twinkled her fingers in the air when searching for the right words and enjoyed a fine glass of Pinot Grigio. She loved spending quality time with her family and friends and cared for many beloved pets through the years.
Sue was preceded in death by her father Harold Alfredson, mother Majora (Keeler) Alfredson; brother Harold "Sonny" Alfredson Jr, husband Wayne Lee, and daughter Jennifer (Lee) Bayler.
She is survived by her son Mark Lee, daughter-in-law Marcia (Toomey) Lee, son-in-law David Bayler; grandchildren Megan (Lee) Berna and her husband Jack Berna, Morgan Lee and her boyfriend Kirk Comer, Sarah Bayler, Michael Bayler and his fiancé Vanessa Borjon; and great grandchildren Delaney, Savannah, Oakley, and Brooklyn.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, 141 North Maple Street, Hinckley, IL.
Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until the Hour of Service on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at the Funeral Home in Hinckley, IL.
Memorials in loving memory of Sue may be directed to the English Congregational United Church of Christ, 301 Rhodes Avenue, Big Rock, Illinois, 60511.

Mrs. Lee was a wonderful teacher. Our children learned a lot in her classroom and we cherish the memories. She will be missed in our community as well.
