Susie M. Chavez

Susie M. Chavez of Bloomington, Texas went to her heavenly home May 17, 2025 at the age of 73. She was born October 7, 1951 in Victoria, Texas to Ernest Martinez, Sr. and Esther H. Martinez.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on Friday, May 23, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with the Holy Rosary to be prayed at 2:00 PM at Grace Funeral Home, 2401 Houston Hwy., in Victoria, Texas.
Susie was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Beloved by her siblings, mother, nieces and nephews. Susie was resilient and had a gentle way about her. She was there to listen to whoever sought her warmth and kindness. She really was a pillar of strength despite her seemingly frail appearance. It must have been because she had to struggle so much growing up with a disability that she developed such a strong sense of determination. It did not stop her from doing the best that she could with her life.
Susie loved to do arts and crafts, she was a good seamstress and was good at growing plants.
She raised her family to be honest and instilled good work ethics by example, because despite the fact that she was in a wheelchair, she was employed before she became ill.
She will forever be loved and remembered by her loved ones.
Susie was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Martinez, Sr.; brothers, Ernest Martinez, Jr. and Thomas Martinez.
Leaving to cherish Susie's memory is her mother, Esther H. Martinez; daughters, Minnie Munoz (Lorenzo) of Bloomington, Texas, Betsy Valenzuela (Gilbert) of Victoria, Texas; son, Jimmy Chavez (Bonita) of Bloomington, Texas; siblings, Minnie Gutierrez (Joe) of Fort Worth, Texas, Mary Jane Martinez of Victoria, Texas, Esther Hernandez (Alfred) of Victoria, Texas, Alfred Martinez (Cathy) of Pflugerville, Texas, Frank Martinez (Libby) of Hutto, Texas; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; along with numerous other family members and friends.
