Susie Crumpler Hooker

Susie Crumpler Hooker, 68, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at her home. Susie was born in Wayne County to the late Bill and Alma Head Crumpler on November 5, 1954. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Garland Crumpler and sister, Amy Ruth Crumpler.
As a clinical service technician, Susie was employed for over 20 years with Wayne Memorial Hospital before transferring to Wilson Memorial Hospital.
A lover of all God's creatures, Susie had a special place in her heart for forgotten and abandoned animals. Spending much time and many resources, she was instrumental in the rescue of numerous animals, ensuring that they lived the remainder of their days in a loving home.
Susie could fill her days by sitting with a book in her hand. Traveling through time and culture, she enjoyed the many worlds she viewed through the lens of a good book. As much as she loved to read, spending time with her family was far superior. Days enjoying the company of her grandchildren were simply the best.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 7, 2023 in Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Bill Rose officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery and other times at the home of her daughter, 300 E.W. Lane, Goldsboro.
Susie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerimee and Amy Hooker; daughter and son-in-law, Kelli and Kyle Corbett; grandchildren, Chase, Colton, Cannon, Izzie and Saylor; and her k-9 friend and companion, Maddie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Susie's memory to the Wayne County Animal Shelter, 1600 Clingman Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
